Our client, a well-established manufacturing organization in Burlington, Ontario, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join their team on a temporary basis to cover a maternity leave. This hands-on role is responsible for overseeing the full accounting cycle for two operating companies, ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing day-to-day accounting operations, and supporting month-end and year-end processes.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working independently in a small to mid-sized manufacturing environment and is comfortable managing a broad range of accounting functions.

Location: Burlington, Ontario (On-Site)
Compensation: $70,000 annually
The anticipated duration of this temporary assignment is approximately nine (9) months. However, the duration of the assignment is not guaranteed and may be adjusted based on the operational requirements of the Company and/or the return of the employee being replaced.
Manage all day-to-day accounting functions and financial transactions across the organization.
Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities.
Process payments through cheques, EFT transactions, and online banking platforms.
Monitor outstanding receivables and issue payment reminders as required.
Ensure compliance with taxation requirements, including sales tax filings and corporate tax remittances.
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
Perform monthly bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and merchant account reconciliations.
Manage the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
Record and reconcile intercompany transactions.
Analyze financial information and report significant variances, discrepancies, or concerns to management.
Prepare reports required by Statistics Canada and other regulatory agencies, as needed.
Perform month-end inventory closing activities.
Maintain fixed asset records and calculate depreciation expenses.
Assist with manufacturing-related accounting activities, including inventory and overhead tracking.
Support budget preparation and manufacturing overhead analysis as requested.
Prepare and submit bi-weekly payroll information to the external payroll provider.
Review employee timesheets for accuracy prior to payroll submission.
Prepare payroll-related journal entries and accruals.
Organize accounting records and supporting documentation for year-end procedures.
Assist external accountants and auditors by preparing requested schedules and supporting information.
Support year-end financial reporting requirements.
Investigate and resolve accounting, banking, and bookkeeping discrepancies.
Collaborate with internal departments to identify and prevent process or system errors.
Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as requested.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within accounting and administrative processes.
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably within a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment.
Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll administration, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
Experience working with ERP systems and accounting software.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, filtering, and reporting functions.
Experience with QuickBooks is considered an asset.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
