Our client is seeking a skilled and reliable Commercial Service & Installation Technician (Metal Doors & Frames) to join their team. This is a full-time, permanent role critical to supporting growing installation and repair demands while reducing reliance on subcontractors. As a Service and Installation Technician, you will perform commercial and detention door installations, service work, and supervise subcontracted installers and technicians. You will work collaboratively with Project Managers, vendors, and customers to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Training will be provided in various locations, including some U.S. sites.
Perform repairs and service on detention locks and hardware, including sliding door and gate operators
Install commercial and detention doors, frames, and hardware
Install glazing into steel doors, frames, and windows
Pick up and deliver materials as required
Supervise subcontracted installers and service technicians
Plan and schedule site work and coordinate travel as needed
Communicate effectively with Project Managers, vendors, and customers
Collaborate with all team members to ensure smooth project execution
Provide exceptional customer service
Participate in IHSA COR Health and Safety Program
Assist with COR certification process when required
5+ years of experience servicing and installing commercial metal doors (residential or garage doors NOT applicable)
Experience installing detention doors is an asset
Certified welder experience (MIG, TIG, or Stick preferred)
Experience with installation of door hardware, including mortise locks and door closers
Experience with low-voltage wiring considered an asset
Valid driver’s license and passport for travel; clean driving record required
Police background check required; additional municipal, federal, or provincial checks may be required depending on project scope (including Government of Canada Level II Secret; Level III Top Secret may be required)
Excellent communication in English (French is an asset)
Comfortable using computers and learning new software systems
Able to perform basic design in AutoCAD
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
Ability to multi-task, plan, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Able to lift up to 75 lbs.
Able to read blueprints and manufacturing drawings
Trained in WHMIS, Worker Health and Safety Awareness, Working at Heights, etc.
Willing to comply with provincial vaccination mandates and government COVID-style safety protocols
