Junior Continuous Improvement Engineer

This is a full-time position based in Hamilton Ontario - with a growing manufacturer - must live within an easy driveable distance to Hamilton ON .

Salary based upon $55-$60K plus benefits 

OVERVIEW

The Junior Continuous Improvement Engineer will drive improvements to processes, equipment, and business systems in a manner that improves profitability and customer satisfaction.  The changes will be sustainable and the results measurable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, coordinate, and document the continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiencies, and quality and reduce costs.
  • Establish the data sources to be used for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze data from key pre-determined processes to drive improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain measuring and monitoring methods.
  • Create machine operating procedures to improve operator training & competency.
  • Develop and implement SMED changeovers for production equipment.
  • Sustain and manage the 5S system using lean principles and methods.
  • Manage and administer the non-conformance process.
  • Assist in developing new business system processes with the management team.
  • Provide support and coverage to the operations team when required.
  • Produce technical drawings as requested.

SKILLS DESIRED:

  • 1-2 years experience in mechanical-manufacturing process improvement role; open to recent graduates with some manufacturing experience 
  • A degree in Engineering; Industrial or Manufacturing is desired
  • We are looking for candidates who live local to Hamilton Ontario
  • Knowledge & competence in SMED Single Mode Exchange of Dies required 
  • Previous manufacturing - industrial environment work experience required with strong project management experience 
  • Skills: self-directed work which requires working independently and communicating with teams, sharing of documentation 
  • ERP knowledge,  Microsoft- AutoCAD experience required 
  • Some design work capability to produce technical drawings
