Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:00am – 4:30pm
Salary: $44,000 – $48,000 (based on experience)
Planned Promotion: Continuous Improvement Engineer after 2–3 months

About the Role

Felton Brushes Ltd. is hiring an Operational Trainee to join our growing team. This structured, hands-on training program is designed to provide foundational knowledge in brush manufacturing, with a clear path to transition into a Continuous Improvement Engineer role. This requires recent education in an Engineering program - college/university- preferably in the area of study that includes Manufacturing or Process Engineering. 

Brush making is a specialized process, and this role will give you the opportunity to gain direct experience in each of our core work centers. Over a 2–3 month period, you will learn how our products are made, operate key equipment, and gain exposure to business systems, quality assurance, and safety practices.

Upon successful completion of the program and performance review, you will be promoted to the CI Engineer position with expanded responsibilities and compensation.

Key Responsibilities – Operational Trainee

  • Learn to operate production equipment in all major work centers

  • Build a working knowledge of brush making through hands-on experience

  • Assist production teams with daily operations and assigned tasks

  • Gain exposure to quality, safety, and ERP systems

  • Begin learning how to create and update routers (manufacturing instructions and specs)

  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance

Path to Promotion: Continuous Improvement Engineer

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 08:00 – 16:30
Salary: $50,000 – $57,000 (based on experience)

After completing the Operational Trainee program, you will transition into the CI Engineer role. This position focuses on driving improvements across products, processes, equipment, and systems to support quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.

Key Responsibilities – CI Engineer

  • Lead and document process improvement initiatives

  • Analyze production data to identify and act on improvement opportunities

  • Design and update routers (bill of materials, instructions, CAD drawings, raw material lists)

  • Develop custom brush designs based on customer specifications

  • Collaborate with the validation team and operations to ensure feasible solutions

  • Optimize workflow, equipment usage, and production layout

  • Support the non-conformance process and ERP data accuracy

  • Assist in developing training procedures and standard operating documentation

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an Engineering program - Process or Manufacturing area of study
  • Strong interest in manufacturing, production processes, or engineering

  • Willingness to work hands-on in a production environment

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with or interest in CAD, ERP systems, or continuous improvement is an asset

  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn
