Position Summary - Full Time - Onsite in Hamilton

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Business, this position is responsible for the direct management and handling of all warehousing functions including receiving and distribution.  This includes accountability for accurate and seamless processing of incoming and outgoing shipments, as well as adherence to legislative, safety, and organizational policies and procedures. The Warehouse Manager will accomplish effective logistical oversight through strong leadership, decision-making skills, and supervision of a small team of warehouse employees.

Shipments must be physically loaded and unloaded regularly.  This may involve repetitive heavy lifting and using equipment such as a forklift or pallet mover.  Shipments must be inspected to verify contents and quality.  The Warehouse Manager must understand the impact of this position on other business functions that depend on the accuracy, efficiency, and documentation of incoming and outgoing products.  Inventory management and agency and vendor relations are essential functions for this position

We are seeking an on-the-floor leader who is adept at creating efficiencies, including how to utilize the space best to make the best flow, and will take the lead on implementing and setting up a new warehouse management software system.  This individual will be instrumental in documenting training processes, shipping, receiving, and scheduling best practices.

  • Floor Warehouse Supervisory experience; Receiving and Distribution background; experience in the movement of food is a strong asset, as is a connection to the charitable sector 
  • G Drivers license (DZ license a strong asset)
  • Current and clean abstract from the Ministry of Transportation
  • Resides in the Hamilton & surrounding area
  • Strong Communicator and a love for leading a team
  • Strong computer skills with above-average MS Excel reporting skills are desired; familiarity with Warehouse Management software systems 
  • Forklift License (current preferred, training provided)
  • Criminal Record Check 
  • Must have use of a vehicle
  • First Aid Certification (training provided)
  • Physically capable of lifting 60 lbs

The Position Details:

Title: Warehouse Manager

Salary:  $70K -$75K 

Location:  Onsite M-F in Hamilton

Benefits:  Group benefits, 100% paid after 3 months, Group RSP plan, 3% matching after 6 months

Hours:  8:30-4:30 flexible ensuring work gets done - No weekends, OT only occasionally

Vacation:  4 weeks vacation

Leadership: 4 direct reports

More on the Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 years of direct work experience in warehousing, shipping and receiving, transportation, and/or inventory activities with 2+ years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Must possess excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Able to plan, organize, develop, and implement warehouse objectives and organizational policies.
  • Able to supervise and motivate a team to accomplish goals.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Excellent planning and resource allocation skills.
  • Experience in the non-profit/charitable sector preferred.
  • Experience with computerized inventory control systems is an asset.
  • Current forklift certification is an asset.
  • Lives within the Hamilton and surrounding
  • Demonstrated ability to operate material handling equipment including a forklift.
  • Ability to perform in a busy physically challenging environment while paying attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Ability to take direction and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Good organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills.
  • Good understanding of first aid and health and safety regulations.
