Sales Associate- Construction Equipment

Our client has been a leading name in the manufacture of quality road maintenance equipment for over 100 years. Proudly made in Canada, their entire full equipment line is designed and fabricated at their facility in Burlington, Ontario. 

They are presently looking to hire a Technical Inside/Outside Sales Associate to the team who will be focused on helping expand their footprint back in to the Cities and Regions in the GTA as well as the Province. This person will ideally bring knowledge gained from the construction sales and/or industrial sales segment with a particular interest in those familiar with specification sales techniques. We’ll be looking for the person who is skilled at finding their way into the right place, in front of the right department or person in charge to get their equipment Spec’d and to set up a demo or presentation with the key decision-makers at Departments of Maintenance for Municipalities, Regions, Cities, etc. 

Role Details:

  • This is a learning role being defined now, will evolve
  • Take and redirect all calls, write up work orders, invoicing, and shipping duties, to push the invoice through
  • Courtesy follow up calls
  • Research competitors
  • Manage Spec Sale over the lifetime of the projects 
  • Prepare customs docs, to export to the US - in support of sales and marketing
  • Manage proposals & bids
  • pre-delivery inspection
  • 80% customer base through dealer channel is in the US; in CAN they sell to municipalities - desire to expand CAN & expand their footprint with the existing dealer network

Skills Desired:

    • Dealer network sales experience; car dealership or Industrial dealer network idea
    • OEM experience
    • Mechanical Industrial product lines sales experience
    • Construction Equipment sales; Heavy Equipment Rental / Dealers network
    • In-office sales support skills
    • Organized, detailed, complete tasks
    • Not a deal-breaker; technical engineer type or college program
    • Easy to work with, a productive and efficient worker with a positive, team-focused attitude
    • Develop the job with them, develop into something broader
    • Experience gained from companies like John Deere, AIMCO, Johnstone Brothers, Sun Belt, Stephenson's, United Rentals considered strong
    • Specification sales experience: target projects, engage with key decision-makers, ensure unique and key features of the product are communicated, contact dealers, manage project along the life cycle
    • Work with procurement contacts, sell to municipalities, cities, regions - sell through government agencies

This hiring process will include a recorded video interview, in-person interview with proper Covid protocols, employment references and background checks. 

Salary range of $60K is targeted with full benefits.
